BEML's largest hydraulic diesel-powered mining excavator to date, the 180-ton BE1800D, has finally been put into use after the successful commissioning of Eastern Coal Field Co., Ltd. (ECL). BEML launched and delivered the long-awaited machine in April 2021 at its Bulldozer Division (EMD) at its Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) plant about 100 kilometers away from Bangalore; the head (technical) Binay Dayal of Coal India received the equipment. Machine development began in 2017, following the BE1800E tethered electric shovel launched in 2014.
The BE1800D hydraulic excavator is designed, developed and produced inside BEML's most advanced KGF manufacturing complex. The equipment is driven by a powerful BEML BSA6D140EG diesel engine with an output power of 2 x 354 kW. The first device is equipped with a 10.2 cubic meter shovel bucket. In order to improve productivity, the four-pump hydraulic system with independent closed-loop swing function can not only ensure the smooth movement and stroke of the compound working equipment, but also shorten the cycle time. BEML said that thanks to the hydraulic auxiliary control system, the control of work equipment has become simple and lightweight. The equipment is also equipped with a spacious FOPS integrated air-conditioning cabin, which is installed on a high-rise frame, with a clear and unrestricted view of the operating area.
The centralized monitoring system in the operator's cab can perform quick daily inspections and keep the operator informed of any abnormal conditions during the operation. The equipment is equipped with an automatic lubrication system, which can reduce failures and downtime, and an automatic fire detection and extinguishing system can prevent fire accidents, thereby minimizing the loss of valuable resources. BE1800D hydraulic excavator adopts leading technology and has many advantages such as excellent durability, maintainability and operator comfort.
