Taxi driver charged with theft of $250,000 bail | Loop Trinidad and Tobago

According to the police, a taxi driver was charged with two counts of theft and was released on bail of US$250,000. 

In the latest news, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Department (TTPS) stated that 58-year-old Tajmool Mohammed received a bail of US$250,000 when he appeared in Couva District Court on December 9. The guarantee of a sheriff. Theft.

TTPS alleges that Mohammed of Santa Clara Road in Preysal Couva was charged with two thefts totaling US$282,650.

TTPS stated in the first incident on July 21, 2005 that a man claimed that he had paid $19,500 as the full payment for the purchase and delivery of a black and beige Nissan B-14 motor vehicle. According to the man, the vehicle was never received or the money was returned.

In the second incident between January 5 and April 30, 2020, another man claimed that he paid a total of US$263,150 to a Couva taxi driver to import, license and repair Isuzu trucks , Mitsubishi Canter, 5-ton forklift and small excavator.

The man reported that he was led to believe that the equipment was already in the port and would be delivered to him in May 2020. Allegedly, the taxi driver failed to deliver the vehicle or refund the cash provided.

After an extensive investigation on December 8, 2021, the police went to the home of the arrested suspect.

TTP alleges that Mohammed was subsequently charged by PC Jemmet and WPC Bunbury of the fraud team on December 9.

The matter was postponed to January 4, 2022.
