Yanmar's compact equipment has a long-term and well-deserved reputation for providing fuel-efficient and sustainable engine technology. Now, with its first prototype electric mini excavator: the new SV17e, the company brings its engine and mini excavator expertise into the field of electrification. This innovation represents an important strategic step for Yanmar's compact equipment.

"Our goal with our distributor partners is to build stronger relationships and create greater customer value," said CEO Giuliano Parodi. "Our transformation will cover our entire business and will include new products using alternative fuel technology. The SV17e prototype clearly demonstrates our intention to build a sustainable business for our customers and dealer partners."

SV17e is a small excavator for customers in the European market, suitable for the 1.5 to 2.0 ton market segment. It is powered by a high-efficiency electric drive and a 48-volt battery with fast charging capability. It is a quiet, zero-emission machine designed to meet the most stringent emission restrictions. Consistent with Yanmar's compact equipment's commitment to creating an excellent customer experience, the appeal of the SV17e is more than just a motor. The design and engineering team has set out to create a machine that provides the highest level of comfort, ergonomics and operational capabilities, precision and control.

"Our prototype is important because it demonstrates our ability to bring the quality and reliability of the highly regarded traditional engine technology into the electrification field," explains Cedric Durand, Director of Product Management for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. "But we have gone further. As always, the operator is the core of this machine. We continue to challenge ourselves to provide comfort, power, control and precision, which we believe will exceed the expectations of professional operators."

In preparation for the start of sales in Bauma 2022, the prototype SV17e is currently undergoing Yanmar's strict product testing system. These rigorous field tests do not compromise on their thoroughness to ensure an uncompromising level of durability and reliability in design and engineering.

According to Sota Takami, Director of Engineering for Europe, the Middle East and Africa: "We are very satisfied with the performance so far-as you would expect, we have a rigorous testing system that pushes all aspects of the machine to the limit This machine performed very well in all these tests. We are particularly satisfied with the power and control of the machine. Of course, this is a quiet, zero-emission machine, but this is not enough by itself. We have to create for the operator It’s a great feeling. I believe that professional operators will feel very comfortable on this machine. They will definitely feel the power, control and precision they need to undertake large and small tasks."

For those who can't wait to wait until Bauma to see the new SV17e in action in 2022, Yanmar's compact device has prepared a short trailer. This short film emphasizes the power, control and precision of the new machine, proving that even the smallest job is worthy of Yanmar's innovation.

With a market-leading printing and digital platform for the recycling, quarrying and bulk material handling industries, we provide a comprehensive and almost unique way to market. Our bimonthly publication is available in print or electronic media, sending the latest news about new product launches and industry projects directly to addresses in the UK and Northern Ireland. This is what we need for a regular reader base of 2.5, providing a total of more than 15,000 regular readers for the magazine.
