The HW150A CR has been designed with reduced tailswing for working in confined spaces and busy environments

Hyundai Construction Equipment has unveiled the HW150A CR compact wheeled excavator, it is expected to become the flagship model in its growing A-series range. It follows the launch of the larger HW170A CR and has been introduced to meet demand for a more utility and service oriented wheeled machine in the 15-17t segment, the company says.

The HW150A CR has been designed with reduced tailswing for working in confined spaces and busy environments. The machine’s load sensing hydraulic system is said to allow for multi-functional operation and precise machine movements, and it also comes with proportional auxiliary hydraulics, enabling precise control of attachments, fine swing control for increased precision with less material spill, and a power boost function for instant power up when needed.

In June 2022, Hyundai expanded its heavy construction range with two articulated dump trucks.

The HW150A CR uses the same Cummins B4.5 diesel engine as the HW140A, HW160A and the HW170A CR, with an output of 129kW (173hp) at 2,200rpm. According to the manufacturer, it features an EGR-free design for increased fuel economy and longer maintenance intervals, contributing to reduced cost of operation. In Q1 2020, Cummins became the sole engine supplier for Hyundai CE’s heavy range.

“The all new HW150A CR is born from the requirements of urban job sites. Its rear short radius allows for top maneuverability as well as for operator convenience and safety. We made the choice of using components and systems from reputable suppliers, which already pays off in terms of performance and durability. The powerful engine, in combination with load sensing hydraulics, gives the machine smooth controllability, along with high performance, as well as an enhanced versatility. A wheeled excavator just the way you want it. No frills, easy to handle and thoroughly robust,” explained Peter Sebold, Product Manager at Hyundai Construction Equipment Europe.

In August 2022, Liebherr said it was planning to display its rail-road excavator with hydrostatic drive at Bauma 2022.
